Three pictures
Posted By: Heinrich Lohmann, 01-02-2007, 11:13 PM

I'm finally getting around to processing some photos from early December.

On my way home from Calgary one day I decided to take a backroad instead of the highway, it was a real droopy early winter day and the light was sort of funny. The road had no shoulders to pull onto so when I saw a small drive leading to a farmers field I pulled into it, looked around for a while and took some pictures. They are all taken from the same place.

The first one was taken with the 16-45 and the other two with the 50-200.

Nice shots! I like the composition of the first one best, but I like the colors of the second and third ones best. Did you processing them differently or what it just a matter of different times of day?

Now I bet that road is fun at about 150... feels like a rolercoster
Grea leading lines man
Would love to see a stop motion movie of the trip into town, Use the K10D and just keep it firing til you get there

Man! Those shots really show the versatility of a wide to tele zoom. Three very different images with very different moods, all from the same shooting position.

I prefer the third. That city, rising over the horizon in that rural area creates quite a mood. Kind of like seeing the future, just over the next hill.

Love it,

Thanks, Dan

I really like the shots. Your first shot just draws you in and makes you wonder what's on he other end.

Good shooting.

I hope that the sky is that nice next week when I'm in the area ( and more snow on the ground in the mountains)

Hi Russ,

All three where taken within a few minutes of each other.
First one was with the 16-45 the other two were taken with the 50-200. They were individually processed, very rarely do I batch process.

Thanks for looking and take care, Heinrich

Yeah, sure... it's posted at 80km/hr and way too many photo radar... ask me about that sometime..

Thank you, I thought that it was a good idea

Movie idea is great but unfortunately a K10D is not in the picture in the near future.

Take care, Heinrich

You won't have to worry about the snow in the mountains, right now there is more than we need. Yesterday they had all passes expect the Crowsnest closed due to high snow conditions and avalanche danger. The Crowsnest was marginal due to high winds.

Here in the foothills we did have very nice weather, +5 to10 C and mostly sunny, cant beat that for this time of year.

Take care, Heinrich

Heinrich - I have been meaning to comments on these for a day or so. I really like the way you are drawn into them. If asked to vote I would say #1 is my favorite. I think it is because there are no cars in the shot. Not sure why but that is the oinly thing I can think of. Also the angle of striaght in works for me any.

Nice

Hi Heinrich,

Nice "flowing" images, they give an air of freedom and expansiveness, very refreshing. Thanks for sharing!

Cheers!
