Bathroom Spider
Lens: Sigma 105 mm macro Camera: K-7 Photo Location: Melton, Victoria
Posted By: Bruce Clark, 10-25-2012, 05:09 PM

A very tiny spider seen just above the towel rail in our bathroom. There is a red fibre from one of our towels on his back leg. Immediately after this shot I went to fetch a reflector to try to get a bit more light on his face but he had vanished. Probably to lay an ambush for me.

Nice shot Bruce, I don't mind the tiny spiders until I see shots like these where you can take a good look at them. Be careful, I bet he bites.

He was a monster. Body length every bit of 3mm.

Nice DoF facilitated by your POV plane, Thanks for pointing out the little red fiber; it really helps to show scale.
In trying to learn about this topic of macros, it would be helpful to know your aperture and I couldn't find it in the EXIF data. I'm guessing it had to be something like f/16 or so?

What an excellent shot of a tiny creature. Love the sharpness and clarity you achieved, and that little red fibre is minuscule yet clearly there. You didn't really need to take another shot anyway, this one is perfect.

Alfred Hitchcock move over. I will never take another shower and we just finished having our master bath remodeled.

Not sure why exif data did not show up but f16 it was indeed
