That totally sucks. If it's insured (and check your house insurance as well) you might be OK. There's a seller on Ebay that has service units he's unloading here:
eBay Canada Seller: bargain-land1: pentax, Digital Cameras, Hunting on eBay.ca at low prices
Maybe he has a K10D that you can get chaep for the parts.

Good luck

Not sure about Canada, but your home owners insurance would not cover something like this in the US. Unless of course it happened in a fire or maybe in the act of being stolen. What a drag...... Does it still work.

it happened around 6:30 this morning. I forgot to zip my bag the night before. Just rolled out when I picked it up.

Oh no!
How big was the fall?
Look like quite a hit for a sturdy body like the K10D!
You're gonna be out of action for long?

OMG I feel for ya - hopefully things will work out. I don't know how many times I have dropped my cell phone (Motorola Razor it is a tough unit!) but not my K10D - best of luck getting back in action.

the fall was about a foot onto hard wood floor...still trying to figure out the repair situation. It still functions though, but I want to get it repaired asap.

Man, nobody likes to see that! If it is just the shell / body that is damaged. I would recommend ZAP. It is like Crazy Glue, but much better. All the model builders use it. It comes in 3 styles (thin, med & filler). I buy the thin and the med. It dries and sets very quickly. To get a nice finish simply take a white birthday candle and carefully rub it on the camera front surface face. This way any glue that squeeze out (if done properly should be next to nil) will be on the wax layer (which can be easliy removed. The thin is very thin (seems thinner than water so apply glue onto a tooth pick and use the tooth pick to appliy to surface) The med is great if you have a few small voids (use same toothpick application method).

Now buck up camper, and get to work. We expect a full report complete wth pictures by Monday.

Oh I am sorry to see that.

I know we all feel for you right now. It is that sick feeling in my gut. I have come so close to the same fall.

I have to ask, what lens was on it? Is the lens OK?
