Steam Locomotive #5563
Photo Location: Douglas Wyoming
Posted By: Bob Harris, 11-04-2012, 09:49 PM

from our travels, we visited the small town of Douglas Wyoming to view the collection of railway cars at the local Chamber of Commerce. I have included the placard for detailed information on the steamer which hasn't been restored as yet. It is amazing as we travel how the smaller towns have so much to offer and the folks are always so helpful and polite.

Very interesting. In the early 1920's there was a class of 4-8-4 on SAR that looked vey similar - the 500 class, of which 10 were built, for the same heavy passenger and freight services through some steep, but not high hills near Adelaide. They were the first class designed by a US chief locomotive engineer - Webb, although they were built in England.
