Sandstone Shades and Shapes
Posted By: Bob Harris, 11-05-2012, 09:19 PM

Sandstone with the help of erosion is one of my favorite things to photograph, lots of different shapes and shades to view. Thanks for taking a look at some of Mother Natures creations.

Nicely captured sandstone in all its glory. Really like the second to last shot.
Our favorite as well, I shot it handheld in the wind, so a bit blurry

I know what you mean Bob. It's like looking at "timelines" of the last thousands/millions of years. And the colors are just a bonus!

Tim
thank you Tim, glad you were able to come out west and see what the beauty of sandstone is like, come back again and explore more.

The beehives are nice, but I enjoyed the White Dome trail at the very north end of the park road . That purple rock makes me think of it.
that area does have different coloring to it Kyle, must be a mixture of other minerals.

thank you so much for the kind words Jim, these areas are interesting to view and I have learned a lot from researching articles on the geology of places that we have visited.
