The evolvement of one of my favorite vacation pictures.
Lens: 55-300 Camera: k5 Photo Location: Manasota Beach Englewood Fl ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/1000s Aperture: F9.5

I took many pics on vacation but this one is my favorite action shot and here is how it evolved. The first shot is straight out of the camera. The 2nd I tweaked the brightness-contrast.The 3rd is cropped a bit and the fourth is the final version. It's a jpeg shot and the lens used was the Pentax 55-300mm at 97.5mm.It's great to be home although it's only almost 60 out and I know snow and cold are right around the corner.--charliezap

I liked it when you first posted it Charlie. It's a great action shot. I have to say that the crops don't really work for me compared to the original as I think they have lost some context and the surfer has nowhere to go in the frame. I would leave some more of the wave to the left of the surfer and not crop quite so tight. Just my ¢¢.

Thanks for the feedback Steve.I tried different aspects of the picture and to me I like the close cropped one.But then again pictures are a very subjective interpretation to the individual observer and that's what makes this hobby a joy to pursue.-charliezap

Three above is my favorite. Close in, plenty of action and detail. All the others show too much of what is "common" to the left of the surfer. Great shot by the way!

Thanks for the feedback.I think my reason for the liking the cropped one is that it shows in detail what the K5 and 55-300 lens can do.--charliezap

I'd prefer the 1st for colours and contrast with the crop of the final one that you showed (wide, maybe a smidge higher to show the complete spray) cool stuff though and you made that 55-300 sing
