Gardens and Glass at Phipps Conservatory
Posted By: paden501, 02-10-2008, 08:36 AM

Here's the first of whole lot of pictures that I took yesterday at Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh. They had their 'Gardens and Glass' event going on with artwork by Dale Chihuly.

Here are a few of my photos of Mr. Chihuly's artwork:

There's plenty more to come, but it's taking me a while to get through PPing all of the photos.

Thanks for looking,

Are all those taken with your 35-70 that you just picked up? They are really clean pictures and the color on them is stunning to me that lens looks like a real keeper.

Yeah all of the above were taken with the 35-70 that I got earlier that day. I couldn't be happier with the lens.

I also shot all these w/ -2ev compensation and then used a Nikon SB-25 flash in manual to make the glass 'pop'... it helped with highlighting the colors a lot.

Thanks for the comments

I agree you did make the glass pop. I love the colors that they can get out of glass.

Thanks weatherwise.

I highly recommend using a nice diffused flash anytime you're shooting glass. Even if you don't have a pentax digital flash (I just use an older SB-25) using flash for fill helps bring out color and adds depth to your image.
