Dover Air Mobility Muesum
Posted By: Eastern Shore Charlie, 02-10-2008, 03:39 PM

Went to Dover, DE to shoot some planes. Tired of all the brown around here. Love the older planes, the colors, the metal work, the angels, and the views....

Great pictures, Charlie. If you haven't done so already, you might want to take your camera and talent to the Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH. Yeah, I know . . . . . nobody goes to Dayton on purpose, but if you're ever through there . . . . .

Thanks...the planes are lot easier to shoot... they don't move....I have been to the Dayton Air Force museum, but not with a Camera...I would have a field day
The big ugly beautiful old plane in photo 4 is a C-124 Globemaster II...my Dad use to fly those for SAC when I was a yungun....The plane in the background taking off in photo 1 is the new Globemaster III...finally got to see one...

Nice perspectives Charlie. And I agree about all the brown, and the grey. But spring is coming. Thanks for the color!

Very nice. Love the first shot. My first flight in the Air Force was in a C-119, from NY to Texas; my teeth are still rattling. Flew in a lot of aircraft after that, but I think that was the scariest ride.
Sorta remember flying into Dover a few times, if that's the base that had the morgue facility. Not great memories.

That C-119 is a strange looking bird. The museum is located at one end next to the Dover AFB...sorry for the bad memories....A former co-worker who I sent the picture to said that when he was flying on a C-119 during a bad winter in the 50's out west lost an engine that over heated and they all had to bail out of it. They parachuted to safety and luckily a famer helped them out so they all did not freeze to death.
