Portrait of a Portrait..
Posted By: clarenceclose, 01-03-2007, 09:54 PM

A very talented street artist making a painting of a very lovely girl.
Taken as a quick grab shot with Optio 550. Isolated with selective color and sepia tone.
C&C appreciated.

Very nice! The portrait is of the painter and the painting, and the environment. The girl is what gives the portrait light. This is like the chicken and the egg, I'm still trying to figure out who took this picture...

He's good, and I really like the way that you worked everything together.
That's one very pretty, young subject that you both have.

Thank you all.
May I ask, would you have tried something different?
Do you have any thoughts on a better tone to the PP?

It looks great as it is to me, but out of curiosity how would it look with everything in black and white except the painted face on the canvas?

Would you mind posting the unadjusted picture too? I'm curious about the color tweaks.

Clarence - maybe a little more of her face would be nice. The real face not the drawing.

He was working with black and white on the canvas so there was no real color there. I believe it was the sketch setup for the color overlay.

Sorry, cannot clone her face from nothing because that is all I got of her real face. It was kind of a toss up as, though she was the object of his portrait, he and his art were the object of my portrait shot.

Also cannot shoot it again. It is one of those photo opportunities that you take when you see it as it will never be there again, right?

I wouldn't mind seeing it with the paint brush in b&w as well, although I don't know if I'd like it better then.
Other than that I don't think that I'd change a thing.

edit, possibly a little bit of color in his hand, more towards the finger tips
