Submarine Transit, Welland Canal · 11:21 AM

The decommissioned submarine, the HMCS Ojibwa (HMCS Ojibwa (S72) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), was moved through the Welland Canal today on its way to Port Burwell on Lake Erie where it will be part of the Elgin Military Museum (Project Ojibwa | Project Ojibwa).

There were very large crowds out along the Canal at the various vantage points to watch the transit. It was one of those things that may only happen once in a lifetime.

Very cool.... for once you can see the submarine instead of the little part that sticks up above the water. It has a port hole on the conning tower, who knew?
