Driving thru a Christmas card
Camera: Olympus XZ-1 Photo Location: Tumwater Canyon, near Leavenworth WA
Posted By: RoxnDox, 11-19-2012, 12:09 PM

Taken in one of my favorite places. Tumwater Canyon near the little Bavarian Village (aka tourist trap but still fun) of Leavenworth WA. We were on our way home from a fun weekend, and I just had to pull over and try to capture the scene. Sorry it wasn't taken with a Pentax <GRIN>

Beautiful! But you'd have had a better angle standing in the stream.

Thanks all - I'm not sure my wife really appreciated the sudden braking and swerving across the (twisty narrow freshly-plowed) 2-lane highway to a pulloff area, but I think the result was worth it.

And being in the stream would've been a better angle, but I forgot my waders that trip... A little further downstream and upstream there are stretches of Class V and Class VI rapids, unfortunately no turnoffs I could get to for those ones...

Lovely pictures! My older son lives in Wenatchee, about 15 miles from Leavenworth and he, my wife, and our grandson ate their Thanksgiving meal today in one of the Bavarian lodges in Leavenworth.

Thanks, all - I appreciate it, even though I have to give Mother Nature most of the credit for creating such a wonderful scene to capture.
