16mm kit lens on film
Posted By: Eaglerapids, 02-10-2008, 11:26 PM

I've borrowed a friend's Nikon Coolscan V ED scanner and this thing rocks!
I built a computer for him a few years ago and when he bought this I set it up for him and played around with it for a bit but I'm now discovering just how good it really is.
Now this picture doesn't look good but it's a lot better than the original pic I had developed at the store, believe me. I just took it to see what would happen with the kit lens at 18mm on film, with my Super Program. Yes there is some bad vignetting, I haven't tested it to see at what point the vignetting goes away.
I just got the scanner this afternoon and have been messing around with it since then. A couple dollars for a roll of film and a couple more to get it developed and a guy would be good to go if he had one of these:-), it's to bad it's so durn expensive but I guess it would pay for itself pretty quickly if you shot a lot of film. It's a kick to play around with, though:-).

Kit lens at 18mm shot on Superia 100 film with a Pentax Super Program scanned with a Nikon Coolscan V ED.

Very interesting effect.
It almost reminds me of the Sigma 4.5mm F2.8 Circular Fisheye photographs on a digital camera.

I'd love to have one of those Nikon scanners. I've been sitting here quite literally all damned day scanning three rolls of film.
