Long exposure sunset
Lens: DA*16-50 Camera: K5 Photo Location: NL ISO: 80 Shutter Speed: Above 6s Aperture: F9.5

Wondering what you guys think of this? I Shot this last sunday with the K5 and DA*16-50, fooling around with my ND500 (9 stops)
There was virtually no wind, that`s why the water is like a mirror (even the seagull seemed to held it`s breath for allmost 5 minutes, lol)

Thanks for looking, feedback is allways welcome.

Thanks, there weren`t any waves because there was no wind and it was dead tide but some seagulls swim by. Any rinkles (and ghosts) were smoothed, also the colors of the entire scene came out better.

Nice...and very nice!!!
Did you try to take a picture w/o the ND filter by chance?
The conditions are ideal to shot w/o it, I guess.
Would be interesting to compare...
Thanks for sharing!

I love the silky smoothness and the depth of color the long exposure gave this scene. Very well done.

Thank you, Vasyl.
Actually, sort of yes. I took a slightly different shot w/o the NDfilter just after.
Like I said, seagulls were fling in and out off the water, making rinkles. There were also some small waves and the colors are different. This is due to the 4,5 minutes exposure, the light changes very quickly during sunset or sunrise. And the ND500 has a slight blue colorcast.

Just did a quick edit in LR and added it to the startpost, I think the differences are clear. Under the most far away jetty you can see a clear swimmingtrail.

Superb reflections on the long exposure. Always fun to see the creative ideas that come when folks experiment with ND filters - something I've never played with.

Thank you for posting the one w/o the filter.

They are pretty similar...or do I miss something?

Not quite, look in the back/right upper corner. The reflection of the trees are much sharper and and you see waves in the second picture. Also there is a swimmingtrail of a gull beneath the seagull on the pole, the coulds are smoother and the colors are deeper.
It is subtle but I think if you click through to Flickr for the larger versions it might be easier to see.
