picture of and with my birthday present to myself. My first Zeiss
Posted By: little laker, 02-11-2008, 01:37 PM

I just bought my first Zeiss lens from Gruoso, and I love it Thanks once again Gruoso.
It's a Zeiss Jena Sonnar 200 F2.8, in a screwmount.

And it just happened to arrive on my birthday, so I guess that it's my present to myself

Well we have a nasty snowstorm here today, so I'm limited on what I can photograph, but here's a picture of my best friend Clutch, with it, through a very dirty window.

Taken at f2.8. You can see the snow on him

And here's a picture of it on my K100D

I'm looking forward to some nice weather and taking it out.

Maybe this can be the official "Happy Birthday Stu" thread also.

That looks like a great lens Stu. I'm looking more and more towards lenses that are f/2.8 to f/1.?

It looks like the puppy dog is really enjoying the snow.

Thank you everyone,

And no worries borno, Clutch has had more than his share of cookies today, and will come in for a nice visit.

one more year until I hit the big 40
I can wait.

I decided to set up a remote flash and take another picture of this juice bottle with it from around 15 feet away.

Sure not why this new lens was made, but it's nice to know that I can use it for product photography as well

Happy Birthday Stu, and congrats! You can't beat Zeiss glass, I've got my grandfather's Zeiss binoculars and wouldn't trade them for the world.

Happy Birthday, Stu. I had been wondering whether to get this lens or not while surfing the lens sale on ebay

Now you are posting it and this is cool. Quite nice in deed. I will have to think of something for my birthday too

They've got to be one sweet set of binoculars.

You'll love it if you get one.

I took a few Bald Eagle pictures with it today, although I won't have access to my own computer until Monday. And I can't promise that my Internet will be working then (it hasn't been hooked up yet)
I hope that they turned out, although they look a little soft or out of focus on the cameras screen

Thanks Strat,
I'll get some winners soon enough, and be sure to share them.

Thanks Peter,

So far I love this lens. I almost feel that it's doubled the value of my Pentax gear
Which I suppose proves that you can get good photographs on a limited budget.
