Thanks! Now I'm wondering what I could do with a DA300 f4. I missed the Black Friday sales though. :P

Lovely and sharp. Makes me want one to replace the K-5.

Thanks! I'd be surprised if the difference is significant with an image like this, but I don't have a K-5 for comparison. What I'd really love to see is how much difference I'd get with a DA300 f4 on the camera. But that will have to wait...

So this is magpie! Terrific shot for sure. I enjoy my 55-300; for the money, it's certainly no slouch.

Thanks Jer! It's the best value for money lens I've bought, for sure. The Australian Magpie is a very different bird from its northern hemisphere namesake.

A real noise maker and scavenger in these parts but that's a first rate shot of one.

Happily the Ozzie Magpie has a beautiful song which makes up for it's less endearing qualities during the mating season.

Can you make the magpie as good as your shot? It is nasty to get attacked by them, and that happens about this time of year, when they are nesting around my place.

Have you tried wearing a helmet with eyes on it? Most of the cyclists in Canberra put cable ties on their helmets to ward off the birds (not just magpies).
