A little HDR holiday action
Lens: Promaster (Tamron) 18-200mm Camera: Pentax *ist DS Photo Location: Pella, Iowa ISO: 200
Posted By: GibbyTheMole, 11-26-2012, 08:10 AM

Since the holiday lights are up, I decided to dink around a bit with my "grab & go" *ist DS & a tripod. HDR processed with Photomatix Pro 4.2.3.

Ho ho ho...

Like the processing on this one. Not a bit overdone. Good job.

Thanks much, guys. I like HDR, but only in certain circumstances. It's like any other tool. You can use it too much.

Sometimes when I shoot something specifically for HDR, the HDR doesn't look as good as if I just pick the correctly exposed shot, tweak it with Lightroom & call it good. :-)

Nicely done - almost looks like a Christmas card! I think I visited Pella about a lifetime ago - the Tulip Festival?

Yep - that's the place, alright... Lots of Dutch-style windmills & architecture there. I live about 18 miles from Pella, in Oskaloosa.

Thanks, Tess. It is a very nice building, inside & out. They've spent some time & money keeping it up. They always have something going on there. I saw Bruce Cockburn perform there a couple of years ago. It was a great show. I keep hoping Richard Thompson will do a show there, but it probably ain't-a-gonna happen.
