I took this photo not long after acquiring my K110 about 6 months ago, and I just though that this particular shot speaks well for the ability of the the kit lens. what do y'all think?

I dont think anyone can dispute its reputation as one of if not the best kit lens on the market. That shouldnt diminish the creative who can get the most out of it though and thats a beautifully rendered shot!

That really is an inspiring shot. Well Done, know it or not, I think you've submitted a benchmark

This is a great shot, no doubt about it.

However, when I aquired my *istDS with kit lens I was really disappointed until I found out that the lens was the limiting factor (never used it again, since).

Stopped down to f/8 and at small print sizes it does ok.

For me, replacing the kit lens by a DA 40 Limited was like a night / day revelation.

yes, the kit isn't all that great (except for what it is), but I think its fun to highlight its abilities, I rarely use it anymore, I actually use my smc Takumar 35mm f/2 as my everyday walk around lens, it far surpasses this, but almost any prime will surpass a zoom in IQ as we all know.
