Pastel Sunset (2 imgs)
Posted By: sajmmiller, 02-12-2008, 09:56 AM

I took these from my back porch a few days ago with the K10D, DA 18-55, and tripod. Composition is difficult because of trying to avoid distracting houses, trees, fences, etc. So, I'm wondering, in your opinion, which of these two shots has more impact, and which do you like better?

Nice shots Scott! I like the landscape mode one better, more of the lighter colors and less of the dark purple/grey. I don't find the trees distracting at all, I think both shots are decently framed. And a good example of what the kit lens can do.

Both are very good images Scott but I also prefer the first one.

Thanks, that helps! I agree about the kit lens; I'm quite happy with mine.

Nice colors , love the tree. I also like #1 better but I think both could be cropped ( a little off the top - little less sky) nice series.

Thanks Dave. I'm not sure about cropping the top of the first one, but I agree that taking some off the top of the second with a 5:7 crop might improve it. I do appreciate your feedback!

I guess it's unanimous on #1. That's what I thought too; it's nice to know that I wasn't too far out in left field.
