Big Cats
Lens: DA 300mm Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Zoo
Posted By: slowpez, 11-28-2012, 08:58 AM

Managed to actually get out of the house for the only day of sunshine we have had in what seems like forever. Went to our local zoo and spent a lot of time photographing the cats. Hope you enjoy them.

love the shots, and yeah, that last closeup is great!

don't forget that other than the mane, lions are hardly the king of cats even the bengal is bigger; biggest cat being siberian tigers <3

(from an obvious tiger fan!)

Thanks. I really needed a lift today and these photos gave it to me. I was lucky enough to go on my first African safari this year and was able to see a lot of lions in the wild - totally fell in love with them. I need to make it over to my local zoo again soon too. My local zoo was the zoo where a tiger jumped a 12.5ft enclosure in 2007 and killed a teenager ( Feds release San Francisco Zoo tiger attack documents | abc7news.com ). Love the photos of your king. Thanks so much!

Oh Susan these are so lovely! You must have been in another world while photographing these amazing animals. The Lion is incredible. Beautiful portraits and great shooting!

Thanks everyone for the very kind comments on my kitties. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to look and comment.
Sealonsf, I remember your safari photos. They were gorgeous. What I wouldn't give to see these guys in the wild.
