Hi
Old German towns are always fertile grounds for those picture postcard Photos.

First three are from Quedlinburg and the other two are from Goslar.

Greetings

Very very nice! It is all those curves and lines, shapes and textures, tones and colours --- definitely fodder for a photographer I would love to visit these towns. thanks for sharing!

Beautiful. These shots remind me of my past strolls through European towns.

I really like the color and composition on the last one, especially. In #3, what was the purpose of the unusual structure in the center of the town square?

Hi Tess

If you have never visited any of the old towns or cities in Germany then it would be time to do it before you get arthritis in your trigger finger. Photographically speaking you will be in heaven and probably will be quite a different experience from what you photograph now.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Greetings

Hi Jerry

Thanks for your kind words.

The picture actually is is not of the town square. It is a gated property and the picture was taken with the gate just behind my back. I could not find out what the building was, but to judge by its size I assume it must have had a religious background. The strange structure I believe is a homing pigeon coup.

Qudlinburg is located in an area which belonged to the former East Germany. The East German regime let these beautiful old buildings go to wreck and ruin. After the re-unification the whole town got restored bit by bit (work that still goes on today, as you can see in this photo). Mid 1990 Quedlinburg was UNESCO world heritage listed with one of Europes greatest Medieval Half-timbered houses. It is the most beautiful city you could ever wish to visit. Some of the buildings go back to the 14th century and are fully restored and lived in.

Greetings
