Late afternoon in Yosemite Valley
Lens: Pentax 17-70 mm f/4 Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: Yosemite National Park ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/60s Aperture: F5

Here's a shot of Yosemite Valley from the valley floor. You normally see this picture taken from the Wawona Tunnel lookout, but here I am standing near the western entrance to the valley late one afternoon. It's a tradeoff. More interesting in the nearness and texture of the granite, and lots more detail and color from the trees.... but no Half Dome. It's behind the trees in the distance, in the center of the picture.

You're right, you normally don't see this view Jerry, there is more to this park than half dome, nice shot here.

Lovely glow on the mountain tops. Also like the soft focus effect you did in post-processing, well done!

Thanks very much DWitte! For the benefit of you and Cee Cee, the picture below shows what Half Dome is. This was taken from the Wawona lookout I mentioned above, essentially same picture but from a higher vantage point. Half Dome is the rounded and sliced off monolith in the distance in the center of the picture, It's about 8500 feet high for reference.

Very nice! Even better than the first one, The soft effect is just right on this one and not too much.

Btw, I believe it's a HDR given the perfect lighting all round? Anyway, very nice work!
