Low tide cloudscapes

During low tide the small film of water over the mud flats of the Waddensea is the perfect reflective surface. Lucky for me there was a lot to reflect upon! So much so that it was hard to even make out a horizon. I hope you enjoy these!

Cheers,

Remco

I have a hard time choosing between #1 and #2. I love the almost monochrome palette and fascinating textures of #2, but ultimately #1 wins out as such a strong composition, that mysterious black line bisecting the highlights, washes of color trailing out again to the right -- gorgeous.

Everybody, thanks! My new tripod (Gitzo) replacing the small Gorillapod does make it easier capturing these kind of scenes when the light is fading.

Nice series. The first one keeps drawing me back for another look. What a ripper, really very special to my eye.

I'm partial to mud, so #2 stands out, and #4. Nice!

Remco - you certainly can add compelling drama to simple subjects. Beautiful job, my friend. That last one knocks me out.

Thank you all! I've spend a good deal of my early youth on this shallow sea with the whole family on a sailing ship and later on as a shipmate (as a summer job) with guests. I'm slowly rediscovering it trough this wonderful medium of photography. And isn't mud fun, SpecialK! Jer with these wide views without many objects to lead the eye I feel I have to concentrate even more on 'manipulating' the light and de structure of the mud and the sky if that makes any sense.
