Morning.
A bit of info for those who may not know much about this series.

The Australian V8 Supercar Series gets underway next weekend in Adelaide, South Australia.
The series is a two make competition, Holden (GM) and Ford, these are Australian made cars and generally regarded as the two most popular family marques. Although Toyota have sold more cars, they don't have a V8 model.

Marcos Ambrose (now racing in the USA Nascar series) is a former Champion of the this series.

The racing is on circuit and street circuits, no oval tracks.

The cars are heavily modified and the series is big on parity to bring about close racing. The website is V8supercars.com.au if you are interested.

Here are a couple more shots from yesterdays test session.
Cheers.

Absolutely one of my favorite motor sports series, I only wish we had something comparable in the U.S. F1, WRC, V8 Supercars, etc. The rest of the world gets all the fun. Given that Speedvision (US cable / satellite channel) only plays the good stuff during the day and at obscure times, one really needs a DVR to keep up on the more interesting motor sports. WRC sadly still has to come via Torrent.

Great pics - keep them coming.

Awesome Grant - love the look of the muscle cars and the fire spewing out the sides just adds to the image well done.

For that first picture you posted quit watching and try snapping earlier: lol:

I enjoyed your photos. Looks a lot more interesting than NASCAR where they only know how to turn left.

Gimme a break Dave....I was juggling hamburger, beer & camera....when the Vodafone Falcon came flying out of the pits!!

end result....?....a fair bit a grass and sand in my 'burger, spilt the beer and got that shot. ...but didn't drop the camera.

Here's another couple for you all. The Supercheap Auto cars No 67 is a Holden Commodore (GM) and the Jim Beam Car No 18 is a Ford Falcon.

Grant you spilt beer ok held onto the camera - we'll call it a wash ... another couple of winning shots.

Interesting photos, GWP.

Are the V-8's in the Holden and Fords related to the ones sold in the States, i.e. does the Holden use a version of GM's OHV mill and does Ford use a variant of the OHC engine that's in the Mustang?

Lot's of interesting car posts recently, and this is certainly one of them.

Thanks,

Jer

Hi Jer,
I am not up with the technical nuances, some others Aussies with more tech knowledge than me will hopefully answer that for you. But, it will be a safe assumption that there will be similarities between the Holden and one of your GM products and also with the Fords.

The website may well help you www.supercars.com.au

Thanks for looking.
Grant
