Titus Canyon
Lens: various Camera: Kx Photo Location: Death Valley area
Posted By: Bob Harris, 12-08-2012, 08:12 PM

Our daytrip continues, having visited the Goldwell open air art museum and the ghost town of Rhyolite Nevada, we continue up the road to take the 27 mile dirt road trip through Titus Canyon. After reaching the top of Red Pass, el. 5200', the road drops down into the canyon and then into Death Valley where the elevation is below sea level. 4X4 is recommended but the road was in good condition and most vehicles shouldn't have a problem. Contact the DV parks division and make sure the road is passable, not many people travel this area in off season. Here is a short video describing the area and trip. I was happy that we got some great light in Titus which shows the steep canyon walls. Titus Canyon and Death Valley NP Video (DesertUSA)

Location and timing are everything Bob, a great series. Would not want to be stranded there at any time of the year. TFS Cliff

Really like the rock only shots. Immensely satisfying texture and color.

Some great shots here Bob. Another place I need to go check out. Looks like you're trying a new style here - more sharpening than you usually use? I like the effect in #3 and #4 especially.

These are spectacular! They are all soooo good. Were you really as alone as these photos suggest? You know, fundamentally Norman and I do much the same kind of travel as you and Terri, only we are up here in the north traveling by canoe or snowshoe. Still, into wild rugged isolation. Amazing.

thanks Cliff, especially during the summer, you know how hot it can get at times in the desert.

Our deserts are quite isolated EM and I think most of us enjoy it that way

There are some bad stretches, but you should be able to make it Kyle, famous last words I guess.
