Took this spider shot last night. Used K10d with DA50mm Macro lens.
Shame I miss the depth of field . Exposure is a bit ordinary too I guess.
Looks like another attempt tonight.
It only comes out at night and hides in the foliage during daylight.
Is about 45 -50mm diameter including legs. If you go outside at night you have a tendency to walk right into them and that is frightening!!!

I like the subject isolation against the black... What flash did you use? And what F#? I have to use a high Fstop to get any DOF on my macro attempts.

Actually it was done with just the inbuilt flash on the K10d.
I had it set at F4.5. Hence the shallow DOF. The subject was very active and I needed to keep the speed fairly high to stop the movement(I think 90th sec). Not that easy all in the dark, so I was pretty pleased over all.

I did a trick with a night spider shot once... I used a flashlight from a bit away to allow me a larger F16 or so... It helped on the DOF, but you have to have a spider that is willing to be lit...
