A few years ago, I was doing some street photography in the old mining town of Bisbee, Arizona, and had sat down for a breather. This hardy dog trotted up by me, alert and ready for anything. In this picture, I tried to capture his spirit of independence and defiance. He had recently been in some sort of tangle, as evidenced by the small wound on his left front leg. The picture was cropped and highlighted using PhotoShop Elements 10.

Beautiful dog...great portrait.

My wife took a look and said she would say this is not a street dog....but an Australian Blue Heeler....a dog that was bred for handling and driving cattle in the hot Australian outback.
