OH NO, it SNOWED
Camera: K5 Photo Location: Pahrump, NV
Posted By: Bob Harris, 12-18-2012, 09:11 PM

Winter visited our Spring Mountains the other night, giving us the signal to head south into a warmer climate. We will leave Thursday for the Palm Springs area where temps are often in the 70's during the winter. I worked for an electric utility for 30 years and anytime I get a chance, I like to incorporate something from our industy.

Makes me want to move north for the summer. Damn hot here, 32+ and having to work in it no fun, Your photo adds a little cool, thanks. Well done on the power poles and then the road, leading to the hills.

What a beautiful scene, Bob! Love the added dimension the poles give it. Great shot!

Just beautiful Bob! The light and composition really come together.

Strange for us here again this year - not a flake of snow yet. 10 years ago we would have had 1-2 feet of snow on the ground by now and stayed that way all winter. But, the lake machine is supposed to start doing its thing on Friday.

Syracuse has had less than 3 inches of snow this year, that means we're more than 18 inches below normal. If the Mayan Apocalypse doesn't happen we're supposed to get some over the weekend.

Trev, wish I could put pontoons on the motorhome and I would be headed your way. I appreciate the kind words. Bob

Well, if you're looking for warm, you can travel to Tennessee without pontoons! We did have one brief snow back in November, with almost 2 feet of snow at Roan Mt., only a dusting here in the valley. Today was sunny and in the 60's F.

Very interesting photo - some great lines and wonderful shadows. Both the low clouds and the line of utility poles add much to the story...

Maybe your mother called them telegraph poles. In this state, they tend to be called Hydro Poles (hydro-electric power). In South Australia, where they're often concrete and steel, they're Stobie Poles.

Whatever, good pic, Bob.

PS What did you clone out in the distance at the vanishing point of the poles?
