Just got back from shooting my schools Winterfest Dance. The theme this year was Candyland and they spent almost $3,000 on candy alone. It was insane. The dance was held in a local kids museum in Downtown Raleigh, NC. It was a really cool locale and about 600 kids I would say showed up. Probably more, but i cant count them all
I decided to shoot this the way Chris does with his bar shots. I shot a 1/4s f4 (stole his settings
) with my flash in my hand off camera at 1/16power. since I didnt have any slaves, i just pressed the test button sometime in the exposure. worked pretty well. K100D and 18-55mm
You guys probably wouldn't approve of most of the dancing, so Ill just save those pictures for another time
Here are some more acceptable ones. Please tell me what you think. One of these will be the front page picture on the next issue of the paper.
Heres one of my and my friend taken by the guy there doing portraits on a green screen. He was shooting with a Ca*** 40D but hooked up my camera to the pocket wizards and White Lightning 1800's for a few shots so I could have the original file instead of a crappy 5x7 print. He was a real typical Ca*** snot though, asking why I would want to shoot pentax. He didn't even know they made digitals!
I'm on the far right in this picture.
Cheers,
Tyler
