Our Nevada Backyard
Photo Location: Pahrump, NV
Posted By: Bob Harris, 12-23-2012, 11:43 PM

A quick last snap from our campground site backyard before leaving for California to spend time with family. This is a view of Charleston Peak, elevation 11,900' taken from our campground at 2600' in the High Desert of Pahrump. Time to head to a warmer climate in the Palm Springs area, elevation 400'.

Now that's my kind of view, it would be interesting to watch the changes through the year.

I don't think one could ever tire of such a scene.

Awesome shot. And here I am thinking 700m is somewhat chilly.

Wonderful picture! The wide open spaces! They say there's more oxygen at lower elevations so you should feel perky in Palm Springs!

Travel safe!

It's a very pretty view as you say, but winter is starting to move in, so we always head South when the temps drop into the mid 50's during the days.

Beautifully captured Bob. Can't handle those nippy mid-50's temps? Don't blame you - best wishes for the Holidays!

I think it all depends upon the time of year Shane.

thanks so much Paul, I guess I am a little wimpy as I grow older, but I enjoy the outdoors and that warmer weather sure feels good on my bones. Merry Christmas to you and yours and have a successful New Year.

thank you Trev, many people think the desert is so stark. I don't argue with them anymore, they can just stay in the city and enjoy views they are happy with.

We don't quite have the view you have Will, but it ain't bad for an old desert rat. We will be down in the lower desert for the winter and then return to Nevada for a couple of months and then up to Colorado and later up to South Dakota.
