Butterfly Conservatory - Niagara Falls

Thanks PJ, that is the one that is all blue when it's wings are spread, I never got a picture of it's blue side.

Very colorful shots Norm.We went to a butterfly place In Ma. and as I remember it was very warm and humid in the habitat.--charliezap

Listed in the guide as the "Morpho peleides " so probably yes.

Yes, very warm and humid. It was a nice change from the -20 Whitney was yesterday.

Looks like a great warm humid place to take photo's Norm - most of them are in pretty good shape last one I was at , a lot of their wings were torn.

More than a few torn wings here too Dave, I'm not sure how that happens but it's obviously a butterfly pitfall.

Were you using a tripod? Good job getting the composition and focus right before the butterflies decided to fly off. And without motion/shake blur

Terrific captures, Norm. The "blue" is probably a blue morpho, they're unbelievable! We have a brand-new butterfly conservatory here, I'm going to post a few more images from it soon. Tricky little critters, sometimes they pose perfectly and sometimes they're just constantly in motion. A joy to watch, whether or not you can capture them well. And you certainly did!
