A Cat in The Window -- A Winter "Scene"
Lens: DA*300/4 Camera: K5 ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/1000s Aperture: F4

Just as it was so quiet looking for some "nature" in the middle of a now very cold winter, I came upon this fun "scene" and I thought "What the heck ... might as well get something before heading home." :
An Old Barn ... a dark window ... some snow ... and a cat !

Very nice shot, the window frame provides a nice "natural" frame for the image. Kitty looks nice and warm, safe from the snow and cold outside.

Thanks Lori.

Yes indeed ... was very cold and this seemingly healthy cat found a good place ... might even have a few mice in there!

I like the shot quite a bit. Since the image has several lines I think I'd try a more symmetrical crop, either expand (if the shot was wider originally) the left side or crop the right to match the left side.

I thought of doing that at first and then decided to just crop the right isde a bit 'cause there is an unsightly grey metal building covering there.
The left side was unintentionally "cropped out" (bad composition) but there is still enough left to "expand it" ... I'll give it a go.
I'll try and make it more symmetrical, as per your suggestion ... we'll see.
I'll repost it when done.
Thanks for the hints.

JP

Edit: here is the version with some PP as suggested. Note: I am not a pro at Photoshop, but I gave it a try just to see what would happen:

This is a really special image JP. I love the peeling paint juxtaposed by snow, the way the window frames the cat... the cats expression... Really really enjoyable to view.

I tend to lean that way now that I made the changes, however the first one still has some appeal to me .... not sure which one I would label a "keeper".

Thanks!

Thanks as always, Tess!

Surprising what one can "see" when no animal life is around (bitter, vicious cold that day and yesterday again at nearly -30C with the windchill !)

Cheers!
