Prehistoric Curves and Lines
Lens: DA 15/4 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Houston Museum of Natural Science
Posted By: Sailor, 01-02-2013, 06:00 PM

Here a few B&W conversions from our first look at the new Morian Paleontology Hall in Houston's Museum of Natural Science. These pics are of small fossils in a special collection that were creatively lit in a dark section of the Hall. This new permanent exhibit is very impressive, with a large array of beautifully presented fossil skeletons (including three T-Rex) of dinosaurs to mammoths. I'll post some shots of the "big bones" later.

B & W gives that dramatic effect to the shots and it helps that the focus was as sharp as a razor and the lighting was excellent.

Thanks, bud. My wife also thought I did a good job with these fossils - she said perhaps it takes one to photograph one.

Guys, I have a Ph.D. in chemistry and I can tell you with with absolute (and slightly pompous) authority that well-preserved fossils have been pickled a time or two. So I'm certain the three of us qualify . I'm betting Bob and the Capn may also fit in our paleontological category.
