Two Recent Sunsets
Lens: Pentax DA 18 - 135, Tamron 17 - 50 f/2.8 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Algonquin Park, Ontario Canada
Posted By: tessfully, 01-02-2013, 07:23 PM

These two sunsets were taken two weeks apart, both as we were driving through the park on our way home from shopping. It is amazing how many different colours a sunset can be.... so beautiful in real life I am often overcome with awe.

Lake of Two Rivers -- Pentax DA 18 - 135, ISO 400 f/8 1/8 (hand held)

Galairy Lake -- Tamron AF 17 - 50 ISO 100 f/5.6 1/160 (hand held)

thank you for looking

Lovely. Share your sense of awe, particularly in the first one.

I like them both with a slight preference to #2, well spotted Tess. For me it would make shopping worth while

They are both amazing, Tess. But I have to say #2 is extraordinary!! That light and the colors and sharpness are all just wonderful. I am in awe.

Thanks NKK, the second one was taken last night. I need to change my copyright to 2013!

Thanks Dave! Driving through the park is the one perk for having to travel 200 km to grocery shop.

Thanks so much Lori... it was beautiful to see in person.

I had to ask Norman to speed up to get to the lake before the extraordinary colours disappeared... and then I jumped out of the car and snapped quite a few shots right away before taking the time to set up the tripod... the tripod shots were all past the best part of the sunset.

The lake in the first sunset is the chinking kind of loose reflective ice way out to where you can still see the smooth water. That lake is now frozen over and we can snowshoe on it...

Thanks everyone...

I wonder how I missed these - glad I didn't. Both are cool, but there's something a bit magical about the second one.

Gorgeous sunsets, Tess. We get wonderful winter sunsets sometimes, but they are so fleeting at this latitude, sometimes the color's gone before you can grab the camera (assuming you're in a spot with a decent view of the horizon, without power lines, buildings and whatnot). I'm envious!
