Rattlesnake Mtn, Washington State
Lens: Pentax DAW 55-200mm Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Richland, WA

Landscape shots, snowstorm and cloud cover on a mountain in E. Washington State (not Seattle!). Newbie here, so any tips would be helpful.

I really like the subtlety and unusual nature of the first. My only suggestion would be a bit more saturation, especially the blues, but this is just taste. You and others may disagree.

adding contrast would help I would think. What editing program do you use?

Bob, Thanks for viewing and providing your thoughts. I used the program that came with the K-5, Digital Camera Utility 4. Do you have any recommendations for a software upgrade? How is photoshop elements?

Picasa is a free program with lots of editing tools to play with, give it a try, you can't beat the price':

Haha, yes the price is about right for my budget. I'll check it out.

It's worth playing around with PP for sure, but there's a lot to like with these photos just the way they are. The "watercolor" feel of here is compelling to me and is a nice alternative to (although certainly not a replacement for) more conventional landscape treatments.

I submitted a similar photo to our local paper in Richland, WA, which they ran the next day. So, I guess I'm published, ha ha.
