Thunderstorm last night
Lens: Sigma 18-125 Camera: Pentax k-x Photo Location: Kalbarri, WA ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: Above 6s Aperture: F5.6

Took these last night. Thunderstorm approaching over the ocean, my regular tripods were unavailable, so I had to use a very spindly old telescopic compact with a simple RAM ball mount, try to adjust tilt or pan, you move the lot. But worth persevering with.It was getting so bright that I had to stop down further than my normal f5.6, down to f8, still overexposing, compensated for in lightroom as best I could. I have more, but we are suffering very low internet speeds here today, and the Smugmug uploads are failing. started at 10pm, stayed for over an hour.

Brilliant clarity. $1 is a winner. The foreground in #2 is slightly off but that is a cracking lightning strike.

I was suffering from tripod shake at that stage, I believe, wind was picking up and the camera strap was still attached , and flapping. Wrapped it around to try to minimise, just didn't have time to stop and remove it. This really is a very spindly tripod on full extension, a portable dating from the seventies, only used for travelling, nowadays. I'll post the others when my internet speeds allow upload to smugmug. I believe they are more vivid than these.

Both very nice.Think my tripod is from the 1950's or 60's,don't plan on replacing it.

Great stuff, well done! I've been wanting to try this sort of thing but there haven't been any chances since I got a DSLR. :P

Wonderful shots, I love the first one!
How did you capture them? Multiple exposure?

They are captured on simple time exposure, 30 seconds normally, f5.6, with manual focus , ISO200. Some more.
