A favorite image of mine from Reykjavik. I've tried several versions of this and here is the one that to me best captures the flavor of the city: hardy Icelanders adding color and order to a land with a grey and difficult climate.

I like it Jerry - aggressive coloring without being overcooked.

My first impression when I saw your photo was that it was a toy city. Well done.

That's a good question imaspy, and I wondered that myself. Also why there is so much more blue in the reflection than you can see in the sky. But I didn't artificially add any of those colors. Here's the original straight out of the camera.

Thanks Jer, I wanted to emphasize color in this one to counter the gloom of the sky and the island's climate in general.

Interesting shot. I have a similar photo from probably about the same location, with similar clouds.

As for the color, I think it is just there and comes out in saturation. I can see the blue in the water, it's just subtle. I've been doing a little of the same type of thing with my images to help with the numerous shots I got from my trip that look like what you got out of the camera. Reykjavik was actually a colorful town, but a gray sky really makes for a challenge to getting the colors to pop. I haven't really thought about going quite like the example here. I could now, but it wouldn't be my own original idea. I've thought of tone mapping some of the raws to get an HDR surreal effect, but haven't gotten there yet, either.

Thanks emalvick! But saturating colors was not really my idea either, it's a standard technique, so go for it! Looking forward to seeing your interpretation of Iceland.
