Winter's Frown
Lens: DA 15/4 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Music Room ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/45s Aperture: F8

At this time yesterday, we were walking around outside in short sleeves enjoying a comfortable 74F (23C), but this morning, we woke up to 43 F (6C) and a hard cold rain. As I opened the blinds in what we call the "music room", the windows - covered with condensation - seemed to project winter's frown into our house. Consequently, I grabbed a few pics, in which I tried to convey the gloomy feel of the day. One is posted here.

BTW, I shouldn't complain. My daughter and son-in-law ran a cold and rainy Houston Marathon this morning, while we stayed warm and played with our granddaughter.

It was a dark and dreary day, the novel began. I bet you like days like this occasionally, certainly a change of pace from the summer months. This works perfect in BW, great job my friend.

Thanks Bob - frankly, I don't like days like this; I had my fill in all those years in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan - where I spent most of my life.

Hey Dave, thanks much. That is precisely my target for this shot.

This is a very evocative and enticing shot. I like how you can sort of see through the blinds and window to the dreary outdoors. Great work Jer!

So depressing, I am sitting here now looking out at 25F (but sunny skies) after a dreary day yesterday with patches of light snow. I'm only a few hours north of you, but enough to get far too much cold weather so far this year. Only a few more weeks and it's all over here! I think I can hold on that long?
Regards!

Capn - thanks for the nice words. I feel your pain; I've got a lot of experience with a snow blower.

We're not quite that cold, but - after 17 years here in the south - my blood has become remarkably thin. Yesterday, our high temp reached only 42F and I complained bitterly, which is something of an irony. When we lived in Michigan, for example, we would have rejoiced to hit 42 in mid January. Anyway, more seasonal temps (around 60 - warm enough to drop the top) are forecast, and the sun is out today.
