Dancel, was that an incamera double-exposure?

Here is my view, Sigma 135-400, resized down a touch to get the composition I wanted.

yes that was incamera exposure on the k10d.

Nice thread! Great motivator to get out and enjoy a hour outside on a brisk clear night. I was hoping to see some shots from telescopes c/w adapter and a camera from the forum. Or perhaps someone in the 2000mm + range. If anyone brought out the big hardware I am sure we would all love to see it.

I've decided I need a bigger lens - this is cropped a lot from my 50-200

Nice series Heinrich! Sharp images with rich colour as well - good job. In our area the shadow started at the 7 o'clock position and moved up toward the 1 o'clock position on the moon. Not sure of other areas.

Having no long lenses I just gawked at the moon with my binoc's - Pentax binoc's, of course!

Picasa Web Albums - David J - Winter Scenic

used the sigma 170-500. It has always , to me, been a bit soft at the 500 end.

Around 9:30 or so.

I haven't had time to do any post processing, and some of them will turn out better than this one once I work with them a little. I just grabbed one that seemed good to email my mother

*ist Ds, ISO400 (might be 200, I switched back near the end), 500mm really cheap lens, which is 750mm effective with the crop factor. Handheld, at something like 1/160s.

Nice, you got Saturn in the corner there. I tried that shot but Saturn came out squiggly. I need a sturdier tripod!!!
Thanks for the comment!

My tripod sucks lol. Its one of those cheap $20 tripods from Blacks lol. Soligor MB100 or something like that. The tripod C-ring had already cracked (plastic) so anything over 85mm and my camera will tip over. Just that the moon was high up enough that the camera's weight was sitting on the fulcrum. lol.

I had to use the 2-sec self timer to get the photo.

Great to see everyone posting pics! Gosh it was bitterly cold last night! haha when my LBA starts up again, I'll be sure to pick up a longer lens lol.

Thank you all for showing us these pictures, they are great!

P.S. Seems like shooting the moon is the ultimate tripod/tripod head test

Here is my best attempt for the night. Using my Vivitar 75-205mm f3.8 and conservative cropping.
