What is your favorite desktop picture?

Mine is:

Attachment 8692

Perhaps not the best shot considered by the professionals.
However, looking at this picture, I still have to think back at the scene we were in when this photo was made in Tanzania last year.
We watched them hunt, kill and eat a Thomson gazelle, you can still see the blood around their faces and their bellies are full. It was awesome.

Nice shots Peter, but the links are messed a bit. It says to click to view larger image - but it just doesn't happen. Just thought I'd let you know.

Didn't I post in this thread? I guess I did in another similar thread. Anyway, I love threads like this.... it's great to see what people hold closest to their hearts or they dig. p.s. Gooshin gets the prize for "kewlest"!

My desktop on one of my laptops ... well, my laptop, my wife doesn't like "pictures" for a computer background:

It's one of the first pictures I'd taken with an SLR [be it of the 'D-' variety] I felt was really successful... even if the subject is centered. Back-story to it is in my "introducing me..." link in my sig.
edit: JPG straight out of the camera.

-=-=-

This was the background of my super duper ultra performance machine I built that the main HD went on after an overheat condition when I didn't realize my fans had stopped, as well as the background @ work:

(I forget if I use this or a tighter crop of it)

Both, leaving room on the left for arbitrary Desktop icons that I never really even use in lieu of the Start > Programs hierarchy.

Thanks Jeff, I noticed that but I'm constantly running out of space here (I post too much??) and so decided to just put the images on google pages. I might be doing it wrong somehow.

Steve (M80) I've seen smaller versions of that flower shot before from you but it is simply (in my eyes) one of the best flower close ups posted on the site. Shadow, light, texture, clours, bug everything is spot on.

Why thank you. I truly appreciate it coming from one I respect the work & opinion of as highly as you.

It was a special moment ... an "epiphany" moment for me. I forgot to add, that it's straight out of the camera, not one pixel of post processing applied (I went back and added it to the post). I've tried, and felt the image degraded in all instances. I'm only bummed I shot JPEG and not RAW+JPEG on it. though, i guess it doesn't matter. (p.s. shot with the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens that's been getting a lot of love lately)

This is the photo I have for my desktop. Taken on the Apollo XI moon mission. A friend of mine many years ago had this shot as wallpaper on a wall in his game room. I always thought it was cool looking.
