What would you do?

Trying to keep this one for its slant on the French lifestyle.
Thought the colour shot may look too modern to capture ambiance, so had a quick dabble with a B&W conversion.
Which do you prefer and how would you improve it?

I do prefer the B&W. I would try and get a bit more contrast, but might be difficult without blowing the many highlights. When you convert to B&W do you use 'channel mixer' if so then you could play around with the RGB sliders to gain more contrast.

Here's my attempt at the contrast. Finding it tricky not to lose detail in this one, though it does age the photo positively.

Yes that makes it look alot bolder. I was wondering, by adjusting the contrast, if you would lose detail in the womens clothes and open door but it seems ok. Nice shot

I also like the B&W best. I would crop it from the right to get rid of the fellow without a face!

I'll have to be the lone voice of dissent and say I like the color one best. If you're looking for an antique look, unfortunately the dress of the people in the photo make that impossible.
