Downy Woodpecker

Ran into a cooperative Downy Woodpecker today.

Very rare.

Nice captures Tom.I had to use my Murray 1200 Turbo Shovel to clear a path through 2ft of snow to access my feeder.I hope the birds appreciate it.--charliezap

I love them, too, one of my favorites and pretty much daily here, thank goodness... How to get the detail, context and scale is a challenge in my mind. I see it as a very big deal to capture these creatures, and I love their call notes, too. They always have food.

Wow - these are good 'uns, Tom. I tried to get a shot of a woodpecker last week, but I'm not much of a wildlife photographer and my results were dismal.
