I have never seen a red Clivia (my boss has orange Clivia in his garden). Gorgeous! Some day I will learn how to capture reds like that!

thanks Trev,

thank you all for your kind words, all this talk about Red has made me go back to the garden & have another look, embarrassingly I think I've got the colour balance a little wrong, I think in trying to bring out the petal detail I've overcooked the red a little, it is a very vivid colour for sure, but a touch more toward orange/red rather than red/red. I used some noise reduction and lost some of the fine detail, restoring the detail with sharpening, I've found sharpening tends to deepen the colour and increase the intensity. It's interesting, this is from the jpeg, If I get the time I shall go back to the raw and see If I can do it better
cheers all.

thanks Bob, always appreciate your comments, cheers.

as I said above the colour balance was a little off this one is a bit closer to the real flower... less is more!

That's a beautiful red and those wonderful bits of pollen and the yellow details really set it off! Excellent work!
