College schoolboys cricket
Lens: Sigma 120-300/f2.8 with 2x TC Camera: Nikon D300s Photo Location: New Zealand Aperture: F5.6

I don't do/haven't done much cricket, but wanted to try out the Sigma 120-300 (non-OS) I got with the Sigma 2x TC. 600mm of 5.6 glory!! Sort of, the results were a bit too soft. Could've stopped down a bit, but then you lose that isolation thing. Oh well, maybe I'll try it with the 1.4x next time, just have to crop more. They're not too bad at this size. These are all with the D300s. Hope there's not too many for you.

1. Ouch!

2. Sharp single

3. Four

4. The leggie:

5. The pace bowler

6. Turning for 2

7. Another pace bowler

8. The follow-through

9. The other follow-through

10. Eyes on the ball

11. Bowled 'em!!

12. Howzaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!

Great action. I don't know that much about cricket but it looks very interesting.

You caught some really nice action there. But I think you said it right, maybe stop down a little, because I find the bokeh a little distracting. The people are already in action, so you don't need to add much isolation, they already demand attention.

Yeah but the parents aren't really concerned about the bokeh! I did try some stopped down 1/3 stop, I should check those out closely to see what effect it had, probably no much.
