Cold Mountain...
Posted By: clarenceclose, 01-07-2007, 07:38 PM

Sun's weak rays casting elongated shadows
The valley air thin, dry, motionless, face stinging cold
As high wind lift powdered clouds off razor's edge
Crystal blue sky shows false promise of tomorrow
The mountain broods, awaiting morning's storm.

C&C appreciated

Very dramatic. Well composed. I like how the eyes just follow the track in the snow towards the mountain.

I'd crop the bottom quite a bit and darken the sky somewhat so the mountain pops out a bit more.

Thank you for your inputs.

Horizontal shot, darkened sky shortened the foreground.
Is this more what you had in mind?

Excellent shot Clearence,
the crop and darkening are great effects and makes the picture pop. i really love this picture and would be a nice submission to a calendar co. Great landscape.

Good Shooting.

Exactly what I had in mind Clarence. Now the mountain Dominates that picture don't you think? And there is still enough left of the road that it still helps lead the eye. Good work!

NaCl(much more dramatic shot IMHO)H2O

Clarence I really like the second version as well. Looks like a beautiful spot. I was going to say the first version was nice as well, but.... not sure if the frame being thicker on the sides worked for me.

Hi All!

The second picture indoubtedly correctly solves this plot, but does not suffice in "foreground" of space a little... The House "will come across" against edge of a photo...

The best regards!
