Crystal Mountain

Actually it is a macro of smoky quartz crystal I thought I would photograph. Not many flowers or bugs at this campground, so I thought I would present something a bit different.

Tamia, thanks so much for the link, I'll take a look on Amazon to see about ordering. Not too old to learn for me.
AFW is good... You'd probably also enjoy the "Roadside Geology of (insert state name)" series, but given your lifestyle you may not have room for all of them! Although I suppose they might be available in e-format nowadays if you do those....

Crystals are hard to do well, yours certainly turned out nicely.

thanks Jim, the paper would work out well for us. My wife has a mini library of books in the motorhome, so I think I could get at least one paperback at a time for myself.

Lucky grandson, Bob. As for studying geology, have you read John McPhee's geo series, Annals of the Former World? A collection of four books about the geology of the US written for laymen. He talks about many of your stomping grounds, as I recall.
McPhee's book (I have the hardbound volume) is phenomenal. Extraordinary reading! My small collection got handed off to a friend's son when I left for college.
