Corvette weekend at the Petersen museum. First time I ever had to wait in line.

1960 "Big Tank" (24 gallons). No radio, no heater, visor or courtesy lamps. Only 5 of original 10 exist.

1962 "Tanker" (24 gallon tank). This one was discovered in a garage after 15 years of storage, and de-optioned to its stock state.

1963 Grand Sport. The five produced were built as lightweight 485-HP competition to the Shelby Cobras of the early 60's. Once GM heard of their success, they shut down the racing due to company policy againts factory involvement.

1963 Stingray, the only year of the "split-window".

A conservative 1964 L-84 for the NY Worlds Fair was used to showcase dual mirrors, side exhaust, egg-crate grille - and 15 coats of paint.

1967 L-88. No radio, no heater...intended for SCCA racing.

1968 L-88. This one is unrestored, with the original fan belt, hoses and tires.

1975 Roadster. The gold paint had problems and was only on 116 cars. This one has all the options, and as of 1993 only had 6,300 miles...

1984 Z-51. This one won awards for its unrestored state, and the Performance Verification Award for which every mechanical component was tested without a single failure.

1996 Grand Sport had real-time damping of its electronically controlled shocks, and a manual 6-speed.

2010 ZR1.

1956 SR-2.

1960 Cunningham LeMans Race Team Corvette.

1953 Corvette Motorama.

2014 C7 Corvette styling model.

Bits and pieces.

beautiful photos, great angles on this series that I sit here "drooling" while I view. Several rare cars here as you know Kyle and an unusual no heater/radio on the '67. Usually that lack of option went to cars that were intended to be raced. Love that SR2, great styling for that '56 fuel injected race car, the '63 GS is awesome. The big tank option was generally for race Vettes for quick fueling. Thanks for the thread Kyle, made my evening.

Yep, the '67 was intended for racing. They all have their charm :-) I always liked the split-window, though I could drive the Grand Sport, too.

Kyle, I remember in '66 if you wanted the knockoff rims, they were about $40 more than the 427/425hp option. I chose the big block

Some very interesting rare Corvettes there.
Every time I see a Corvette, I think of the old TV Series "Route 66"!!.....Anyone remember it?
Cheers from Aus. Pickles.

Great stuff - and I'm sure my buddy, Bob, has reached nirvana. Wonderful pics of a wonderful car.

Great photo's.

First time I've seen the rear of a 2014 Corvette.

At first glance I don't like it. It reminds me of the '59 Chev ...the spoiler of the new Vette substituting for the exaggerated fins of the '59 Chev's and the new Corvette's taillights seem to be very reminiscent of the '59 Chevy cats eye's.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Corvette fan...my favourite era..the '63-67, specifically the '63 split window coupe....and I liked the '59's...my family had a '59 Chev Parkwood wagon.

But then I don't care for the styling of the new Camaro either....the retro of the '69 . The '69 I felt fell short...styling wise of the original '67 Camaro and the '70 Camaro...particularly the ' 70 split front bumper.

I had a '67 Camaro RS coupe.

As a sports car, I say "Oooh". As a Corvette, more of an "eh".
