Suspended in Ice
Lens: Tamron 90 2.8 macro Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Ontario, Canada
Posted By: tessfully, 03-06-2013, 12:34 PM

Winter is starting to take its toll on new things to shoot... so time to play and experiment. This is a lot of fun and I can see myself trying it again very soon, but with a better idea of what to do. My favourites ...

Seed pods and pebble -- ISO 100 F/16 1/13

Pebble -- ISO 100 f/16 1/6

Fern Fronds --- ISO 100 f/16 0.4s

Black Eyed Susan and a fern frond -- ISO 100 F/22 1/6

The pebble again...it is actually a red rock with black lines from Temagami Ontario

thanks for having a look

A pleasure to see your art, as usual.
You sure are getting used to this Tamron lens, in a nice way.

Temagami .... yes indeed: the land of the tall pine trees!
I hope that the once-a-project to protect them is still in force, since we rarely get to see majestic red pines (Wolf Lake ?) over 300 years old!!

Cheers!

Thanks JP, I always appreciate your comments.

Re: Temagami...I starting canoeing there in my teens and took my son on canoe trips to Temagami from the time he was 4. I have not paddled Temagami since moving to Algonquin, but we are planning a canoe trip to Maple Mountain this summer. Norman and I actually met in Temagami at an Earthroots gathering in 2008.

Norman was very involved in the Wolf Lake politics. Here is a link to his report if you are interested.

Cheers!

The one with the black eyed Susan really caught my eye. Especially the structure in the ice on the left side is really nice.

Another super series Tess. That image of the blackeyed Susan especially is really stunning with all the movement in the ice. Really well done.

Creative & beautiful. They look like paintings. In any case, they (indirectly) show the eye of an artist.,

Marvelous, Tess. They're frozen in ice, for sure - but it's interesting to think of them frozen in time.

Thanks mrNewt! My second go at this is not turning out, despite the lessons learned. It is more tricky than I realized.

HaHa ... now even those ice cubes make for some lovely abstract shots Bob! Get out that camera next time you notice them in the bottom of your glass

Oh thank you so much causey! They do see what I see in the end. It is kind of subconscious at the time of production, so I am glad you mentioned it...

Lovely series, thanks for posting. One day I'll explore Canada although I'm not sure about all those minus signs stuck in front of your temperatures. Ice down here is a peculiar and temporary state of water we find useful for keeping beer cold.

What are you not happy with? The way the ice is forming/looking like ... or the way objects gets frozen in the ice?
