Chapel of the Holy Cross
Posted By: Bob Harris, 03-08-2013, 11:27 PM

The concept of the chapel came to Marguerite Bruswig Staude a New Yorker, in 1932.
While traveling through Sedona, she was struck by the beauty of the area and decided that this chapel should be built here. “This would be a monument to faith, but a spiritual fortress so charged with God, that it spurs man's spirit godward".
Built on a twin pinnacled spur about 250 feet high, jutting out of a red rock wall, "solid as the Rock of Peter" the building of the Chapel was completed in April 1956.

Such stunning colors! If ever there was an inspiring place to go to church, this is it!

Thanks for the story about the chapel. I saw it when I went through a couple of years ago. Very cold, frozen fountains etc, but did not feel particularly cold, even in fairly light clothes.
I have always wanted to photograph Sedona after a snowstorm, the white on red would really standout. Thanks for looking, Bob

It is quite modern compared to the traditional Catholic churches that we see Lori, beautiful view from inside too.

Harsh sunlight on sandstone really brings out the color.

Very nice shot Bob, oh , and how is that itinerary coming? We need everything laid out so we can do it all in 30 days, without wasteing gas going back and forth. You get the itinerary together, we'll get the passports and shots for the dogs.

Norm, just PM me with your start and stop information. That is really going to be a challenge for you guys bringing the dogs and visiting certain areas. I can't wait to see you hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon to find your puppies

Duane, and Oak Creek Canyon is also a must see and drive. I spent a lot of time as a youth there with my Grandparents way back in the day. I appreciate you taking a look, Bob
