Yashica 124G Test Roll- Portra 160NC
Posted By: Tyler, 02-29-2008, 03:56 PM

2nd best film ever right behind 400NC This was the 2nd roll I shot. I didn't get prints for the first because I figuered it was messed up from me loading and unloading. I was wrong. So until i get a scanner than can scan 120, I wont be able to show you those.

Brother on the rider

Self Portrait

Father. lol at his clothes. he works from home so its cool.

Nothing special, just a test roll.

Thanks Paul. For some reason on this roll, I seemed to use the rule of thirds without even thinking about it. I really wish I had centered some of these. oH well. I think its just getting used to composing with a square (6x6)

You folks should buy some shoes!

I am waiting on some Fuji 100 Velvia to use in my Yashica Mat 124G. It was shipped 2 weeks ago from California - must be coming by pony express! The test roll was Fuji 160 Portra also and I was quite pleased with the results.

What scanner are you using? Personally, I need a better scanner to do justice to the images this fine camera produces. Something that will render 3600 dpi or better would suit me.

Velvia is awesome. Just imagine an 8x10 slide of Velvia 50 on a light table with a 10x loupe. Oh my.

I really like the NC line of films. The VC is nice too, but i'm not a big fan of UC. I use a 4200f but these are scanned prints since I can't scan negs with this scanner. I'm hoping to buy a refurbished 4490 soon, which does an insane job with MF for the price.

It was fairly warm when I took these. No need for shoes

Tyler,
Looks real good. Those scans look real good. All of the scans I've gotten done of my old kodacrome slides just don't have the sharpness or the colors of the origional slide.

Get real. Who do you know that shoots medium format and has money left over for shoes?

You wouldn't believe where, either.....

Walmart. Yup. All I do is take it there and check the special instructions box and put for example 120 size C41 dev only and then write "send out only!!" on the top to make sure it gets sent out. Drop it in the slot and viola. They send it to the nearest fujicolor lab and it gets dev'd there. Anyone can do this at their walmart. Prices may vary a bit but shouldn't be much more. The price i pay is the lowest I've seen or read anywhere. Cool.
