A couple of Key West sunsets
Camera: K-5
Posted By: slowpez, 03-10-2013, 02:23 PM

The sunsets were sometimes just very orange without clouds. It turned out to be harder to find a good spot to take these kinds of shots. Everyone suggests Mallory Square but it is really just a party place (not that the occasional margarita wasn't welcome). The first shot was a 20 sec exposure and the last a 2 sec. The cruise ships seemed to leave when the fun was just beginning.

Very nice Susan! I really like the motion you caught in the second shot. Very unique! The first is perfection! The glassy looking water is beautiful and I love the colors you caught in the sky!

The cruise ship was moving if that was just a 2 second exposure!

Love the soft muted colours and the silky water from the long exposure in the first one. Neat effect on the cruise ship and a great idea - I've never seen that done before! Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful sunset. I get the pleasure of seeing those sunsets in 3 weeks as I venture down south.

Nice sunset! The second one really caught my eye, because I tried to do exactly the same thing last week. I posted a picture of a liner, but after I took that one, I tried several brief time exposures like yours (wedging my camera between a concrete balcony and a steel railing). But none of them came out any good and I deleted them all. You got the effect I was looking for but couldn't get. Great job!

Thanks everyone. I am both surprised and pleased that everyone liked the second shot. I was so far away and wasn't sure it would turn out. The lone photographer on the pier even stayed still long enough. I appreciate all of you taking the time to have a look and leave a comment.
